Step away from the everyday and into the ancient forests of West Virginia's New River Gorge. Rooted & Wild is a 3-day yoga retreat designed for those ready to ground deeper, grow stronger, and reconnect with the wild wisdom of nature—and themselves.

This isn't just a yoga retreat. It's an invitation to explore your edges, both on and off the mat. Through daily yoga practices, adventure activities, and a transformative workshop on aging gracefully, you'll discover what it means to be rooted in your truth and wild in your spirit.


Your 3-Night Experience Includes:

Daily Yoga & Mindfulness

Start each morning with grounding yoga practices led by experienced teachers Jenny Henderson, and Lisa Otto. End the day with restorative, gentle practiced with meditation. Classes are designed for all levels and focus on building strength, flexibility, and inner resilience.

Adventure Activities (Optional)

Choose your own adventure:

  • Horseback Riding through scenic mountain trails

  • Zip Lining through the forest canopy

  • White Water Rafting on the New River

  • Hiking in old-growth forests

Special Workshop: Aging Gracefully Like a Tree

Join Randy Boyd for a 3-hour transformative workshop exploring the wisdom of aging with strength, grace, and resilience—just like the ancient trees surrounding us.

Nestled on the rim of the New River Gorge National Park, Adventures on the Gorge offers the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. Stay in comfortable accommodations, explore miles of hiking trails, and enjoy stunning views of the gorge. The resort features multiple dining options, a swimming pool, and direct access to outdoor adventures.

Jenny Henderson, ERYT-500


Jenny is the heart and soul behind Essential Yoga and Wellness. With over 15 years of teaching experience, she specializes in making yoga accessible for all bodies and all ages. Jenny's classes blend strength, mindfulness, and joy—helping students discover what their bodies can do, not what they can't. Her warm, authentic teaching style creates a safe space for students to explore, grow, and heal.

Lisa Otto, ERYT-500, LPCC


Lisa found yoga when she was dealing with chronic pain from fibromyalgia. Through her practice, she became free from pain and learned to listen to the language of her body. A former dancer and licensed professional clinical counselor, Lisa brings a unique blend of movement, mindfulness, and therapeutic insight to her teaching. She specializes in trauma-informed yoga and works with students on the spectrum and those healing from emotional trauma. Lisa believes yoga gives us the tools to heal from anything life throws our way—and she's living proof.

Randy Boyd, ERYT-500, C-IAYT


Randy has been studying and teaching yoga for nearly two decades. He completed his 200-hour training in the Anusara school of Yoga in 2007, his 500-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in 2012, and an advanced 300-hour Ashaya Yoga certification in 2016. Randy is also a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists and has studied with world-renowned teachers including Todd Norian, John Friend, and Dr. Loren Fishman. Randy specializes in alignment-based yoga, yoga for osteoporosis, and the healing wisdom of yoga therapy. His teaching is grounded in both ancient tantric philosophy and modern therapeutic techniques, helping students heal injuries and age with strength and grace.
